When was chocolate first made into a candy bar?

The first real chocolate bar was invented by Joseph Fry & Sons in 1847. Seventeen years earlier the team had produced the first form of solid eating chocolate. During those years they experimented with different ways of improving the texture and the sweetness level of the candy. In 1847 they figured out a way to introduce cocoa butter and sugar back into the mixture and prepare it to the point that it could be molded into a bar that was easy to eat and delicious.

Is it true that Hershey's chocolate candy bars were in military rations during WWI?

No, it is not exactly true. During WWI huge blocks of chocolate were shipped over to bases where it would be chipped off and distributed. But it was during WWII that Milton Hershey was able to meet the military's demands for a small bar that was heat resistant and would provide the soldiers with energy.

These new bars were called "Field Ration D" and many soldiers attribute these bars with saving them in times when rations were scarce. You could try one of these special bars but you might be disappointed. It definitely does not have the taste of a real Hershey's bar.

Does chocolate give you an energy boost?

Chocolates can definitely give you an energy boost. The boost may come from the sugars that are added to the bars or treats. There are also certain amounts of caffeine found in chocolates.

As anyone who has felt a lag in the afternoon at work knows, a quick pick-me up can be found in chocolates. The effects may not be long term, but it can still make your taste buds extremely happy.

Does chocolate cause acne?

There is no concrete evidence that chocolate has a direct effect of causing acne. Now, that being said, there is evidence that milk products can cause acne. So if you are eating large amounts of milk chocolates, you could be getting acne from the milk products that are found within the chocolates.

The real tip is to eat in moderation. A diet that is filled with chocolates is not a healthy diet. By eating pounds of chocolate you are going to gain weight and probably have problems with your health.
