2nd Annual Light the Way for Team Elliott

2nd Annual Light the Way for Team Elliott
We are thrilled to announce the 2nd Annual "Light the Way" event for Team Elliott! Team Elliott is the grassroots effort of the Williamson County community to support Elliott Grace Castro who was born in May of 2015 with a very rare, terminal disease called Rhizomelic Chondrodysplaysia Punctata (RCDP).  You can read more about the beginning of her journey in this article from the USA Today published last year. Since that time, Ellie G (as she is affectionately referred) is 15 months old and weighs 9 pounds, 2 ounces. She is under the care of nine specialists/physicians and four therapists receiving therapy six times per week, which, as you can imagine, is quite costly – the reason for hosting "Light the Way."  "Her daily routine, without therapies, is the same as a newborn," explains her mother, Samantha Castro. "Despite her obstacles, she is thriving and an amazing little girl with big, hazel eyes and a head full of curls. Her smile is contagious and to meet Elliott is to love her."  Last year's inaugural event was a huge success with more than 100 volunteers and 400+ in attendance. We hope you can join us this year on October 2nd from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Eastern Flank Event Facility for a family-friendly event complete with live entertainment by local entertainers including People on the Porch and The Exotics, with a special surprise guest rounding out the evening.  Families and children will enjoy the kids' area, dubbed "Elliott's Dreamworld," which boasts face painting, Sam the Balloon Man, games, princesses and Touch-A-Truck with the Franklin Fire Department, Franklin Police Department and an EMT truck from Williamson Medical Center. New this year is the opportunity to purchase a t-shirt with the Team Elliott logo and have your child create their own color palette with t-shirt markers!  Deconstructed Food Trucks will include Catering & Events by Suzette, Pueblo Real/Tito's Mexican Restaurant and Ellie's Old Fashioned Doughnuts as well as wine, beer, non-alcoholic beverages and apparel available for purchase. This event will happen rain or shine. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets; however, pets and coolers are not allowed.   The event is open to the public with a suggested donation of per person or per family at the gate, cash and checks are accepted, but not tax-deductible.
