French Music Summerfest with Emile Parisien Quartet at Club Bonafide
Doors at 6:00pm | 21+ admitted | Set at 7:30pm 2 drink minimum for table service | Happy Hour 6pm-7pm Emile Parisien Quartet Emile Parisien (soprano and tenor sax) Julien Loutelier (drums) Julien Touéry (piano) Ivan Gelugne (bass) The saxophonist Emile Parisien has had the opportunity to work with several leading figures of jazz: Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Johnny Griffin and Bobby Hutcherson, who gave him the opportunity to play with them on the Marciac Jazz Festival. Recently, the Emile Parisian Quartet received the Franck Ténot prize, the Victoires de la Musique for Jazz and was the winner of the Jazz Migration program. "This energetic group made their stateside debut at WJF this year -- perfectly in-sync and totally transfixing, Parisien and his (you guessed it) French compatriots brought a taste of the continental avant-garde to Tribeca, as they danced and thrashed around the small stage to their own eclectic, and occasionally Middle-Eastern inspired, music." - BILLBOARD MAGAZINE "The French tenor and soprano saxophonist Emile Parisien turned his United States debut into a series of scratchy epiphanies. His tone ranged from voluptuous to flinty, and his band blended elements of the avant-garde — Julien Touéry, the pianist, has clearly heard some Don Pullen — with the strenuous side of jazz-rock. The tune "Chocolat-Citron," studded with fitful syncopations, suggested a caffeinated response to the Bad Plus." - NEW YORK TIMES https://www.actmusic.com/en/Artists/Emile-Parisien
